Hattie and the Wolf is Ballarat’s go-to destination for those who love eco-friendly, Australian-made, and locally handmade treasures.
Nestled in a gorgeous light-filled 1890s building at 202 South Street, Ballarat, our store offers a thoughtfully curated selection of giftware, clothing, and accessories—sourced from both Australia and abroad.
Our earth-friendly ethos runs through everything we do. Many of our products are eco-conscious, fair trade, or part of inspiring social enterprises. The makers and businesses we partner with are transparent in their supply chains, pay fair wages, and in many cases, support education and community programs.
We’re passionate about handmade and proudly support local artists and makers. Nothing brings us more joy than celebrating their creativity and watching their businesses grow.
At our heart, we are brave, bold, and fearless—and we invite you to be part of this story too.

Who is Hattie?
Hattie and the Wolf was born from a desire to showcase unique, handmade, and thoughtfully created pieces in a space that feels inspiring, welcoming, and full of stories.
So, what does the name Hattie and the Wolf mean?
For me, it symbolises courage. Opening a bricks-and-mortar store was a leap of faith, and I knew I had to be fearless—much like Hattie conquering the big, bad wolf.
But the true heart of the shop is about celebrating creativity.
For years I was part of the market scene, surrounded by makers and artisans with incredible talent and spirit. I soon realised I wanted to create a space that captured that magic—where people could connect with the stories, passion, and craftsmanship behind every piece.
After much dreaming (and a little bit of daring), Hattie and the Wolf came to life. Since then, we’ve been proud to showcase the work of many talented makers—some local to Ballarat, others from further afield. Every item is handpicked to align with our values of creativity, sustainability, and conscious living.
Sustainability is close to my heart. I care deeply about where each product comes from and who made it. My goal is to encourage conscious shopping—so when you take something home, you also take the story of its maker with you. (You can read more about or sustainability and ethics here )
Our ethos continues in our Preloved Clothing Boutique, created in collaboration with Bianca Flint of The Wardrobe Green. Together we’ve built Hattie’s Wardrobe Green—a space dedicated to circular fashion. Here, we buy and sell high-end women’s and kids clothing and accessories. It’s a place where beautiful, well-cared-for clothes are given new life, and women can trade in treasures they once loved.
Today, Hattie and the Wolf is Ballarat’s go-to destination for lovers of eco-friendly, Australian-made, and locally handmade creations. Step through our doors and you’ll discover that everything inside has a story to tell.
This shop is my passion, my joy, and my little act of courage. And it’s true what they say: do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.
